Kelly Pearce, LCMHCS, MA

Senior Partner, Clinical Director

Kelly is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with experience providing services in a variety of settings. She drew from these experiences and founded Pearce & Partners in January of 2018 after recognizing the need for progressive psychotherapy services that validate and advocate for the experiences of marginalized communities.

Kelly takes a strengths-based position and exercises techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Trauma-focused Therapy. She utilizes creative interventions and enjoys thinking outside the box to find new solutions to difficult problems. She believes that therapy includes the client and therapist working closely together to help change thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Common concerns she treats include: anxiety, depression, trauma, and issues related to gender and sexuality. She works with adolescents, teens, and adults.

Kelly is also a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor and provides supervision to provisionally licensed counselors.

April Ratliff, LCMHC, LCAS, MA/Ed.S

Partner, Therapist, Substance Abuse Counselor

April is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist in North Carolina. She received a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Gardner-Webb University in 2012. She attained an undergraduate degree in Psychology and worked as a behavioral specialist in psychiatric residential treatment facilities for pre-teens and adolescents prior to pursuing her Master’s degree. 

April has experience working with adolescent and adult populations in a variety of settings. Much of her clinical experience has been working with individuals to aid in recovery from substances, trauma due to domestic violence or witnessing traumatic events, family discord, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, difficulty adjusting to significant life changes, and parenting behavioral and emotional problems.

April implements a variety of counseling theories to include Brief Solution-focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Person-centered approaches. Ultimately, she believes in strongly developing a solid therapeutic relationship with her clients and taking great care to make everyone feel comfortable in her office. It is her belief that everyone has the potential to heal and overcome previous challenges. You are innately resilient.

Blayr Nias

Educational Enrichment Director

Blayr hails from Massachusetts and has been living in Charlotte since 2004. She attended George Washington University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with double minors in Creative Writing and Theater. 

Blayr has been active in tutoring and mentoring since 1998 when she began volunteering with the Young Adult Reading Program at Leominster Public Library. She then went on to work for the nonprofit, Love in Action, tutoring elementary students in high risk situations in Washington, DC from 2000-2004. She independently tutored for the next 10 years until she took a position with Early Bird Tutoring in 2014. She worked with EBL until the company dissolved into Beam Tutoring in 2020. 

Blayr is consistently committed to the support of children achieving academic excellence and feeling confident about their growth and abilities. Her specialties include English Literature, and Language Arts, SAT and standardized testing preparation, History, French, Latin, and organizational skills. She is proficient in the areas of mathematics and science as well. Blayr offers a variety of tutoring services and has experience in addressing the mental and emotional health needs of her clients in her academic approach. She welcomes clients from kindergarten through college. 

Blayr also designs and oversees our educational support workshops.

Sam Hinson, LCMHCA, MS

Therapist

Sam was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. Sam attended the University of North Carolina where she received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in English and Communications. She received her Master of Science Degree from Walden University with a specialization in Marriage and Family Counseling.

Sam uses Person-Centered Therapy approach and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as other integrative approaches for treatment. She has experience with working with clients that struggle with general mental health challenges, anxiety/depression, trauma, career development, and relationship challenges.

Sam strongly believes people innately want to achieve their fullest potential in life in whatever capacity that means to them. She seeks to support and advocate for her clients while providing a safe, nonjudgmental space for her clients to reach their maximum potential to live the quality of life they are thriving for.
